NAVITEQ operates its own GNSS reference network of basic stations, the first in Bulgaria. The GNSS stations continuously receive signals from the satellite systems GPS and GLONASS. The data from these observations are processed in a control centre and delivered to end users through NAVITEQ GNSS services. The services find application in professional fields such as geodesy, cadastre, construction, designing, GIS, utility, communications etc.

Unique project for Bulgaria. Incorporates modern GNSS technology and European know-how;
Eliminates the influence of earth orbit errors as well as those resulting from atmospheric conditions when performing GNSS measurements;
Supplements and sometimes substitutes traditional methods for GNSS measurements;
Network solution service for GNSS measurements grants more stable, more precise and more reliable results;
Saves time for measurements and allows measuring on long bases.

NAVITEQ develops and maintains its own multifunctional network of active GNSS reference stations, the first in Bulgaria. The NAVITEQ network has three main features:

  • Receives and processes data from the satellites of the American GPS (Global Positioning System) and the Russian GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System). In the future the network will be used for observing the European system GALILEO (European Satellite Navigation System).
  • Gives network solution for GNSS measurements
  • Improves accuracy up to 1 cm when performing GNSS measurements.
The project started in 2005 with the installation of 4 GNSS stations in West Bulgaria. By end-2010, 25 active GNSS stations will cover the whole country.

NAVITEQ GNSS stations are equipped with precise Topcon GNSS receivers. Calibrated choke ring counteracts the effect of reflected signals (so called multipath effect).

The operation and monitoring of the GNSS network is performed by qualified specialists by means of GNNET software, developed by GEO++.

The precision of the data is guaranteed by the specific architecture of the reference network. It is designed by strict rules to avoid the influence of interfering signals such as radio and radar signals, or reflected satellite signals.

The GNSS network coordinates are calculated in ETRS89, epoch 2005.0.

NAVITEQ network data gathered and processed in NAVITEQ control centre are transmitted to end users by the specialized NAVITEQ services in real time or for data post processing.
